Hi, I’m Pastor Bruce.
Welcome
to His Place, where the worship is heartfelt,
the message is straightforward, and the children
are given high priority. And please, just call
me Bruce (after all, I don’t refer to you
as Plumber Bill).
At His Place we appreciate authenticity, and
treasure transparency. We’re real people, in a real
world, serving a real God. That means we aim for a balanced
mixture of lighthearted self-awareness and thoughtful God-awareness.
Have you ever felt “out of place”
when faced with outmoded musical instruments, arcane religious
jargon, and inexplicable rituals? I have, too. We’ve
replaced those would-be barriers with culturally-relevant
music, language, and traditions.
Oh, and visitors are always welcome to investigate
our beliefs, patterns, and practices, in the pursuit of truth.
So, whether you’re a spiritual seeker or a committed
Christian, you’ve come to the right place … a
fun place to get serious about God!
Please look around and get to know us …
I’ll stay here and greet our next guest. And by the
way, I’m glad you stopped by!

Operation Christmas Child
You and your family can share the love and hope of Jesus with a needy child by participating in this year’s Operation Christmas Child! Volunteers from this mission project will hand-deliver your shoebox of gifts to a child in need, somewhere around the world, along with Christian literature in his or her own language.
Pick up a brochure at the church. If you would like to use a resealable, plastic shoebox, you can also pick up one there; a donation of $1.25 per box is suggested. Purchase gifts for your Christmas Child, pack your shoebox (standard-size only!) according to the brochure’s instructions, and include a donation of $7 per box to help with shipping and other costs. Multiple box donations can be combined.
Then on Sunday, November 23rd, be sure to bring your “box of blessings” to the church as we gather together all our Christmas Child gifts during the morning services.
Since 1993 , Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 61 million shoe box gifts to children in about 90 countries around the world. Click here to learn more about this enormous outreach of love to the world's children.

Kids’ Night In (or Parents’ Night Out!)
Calling all kids ages 3 to 6th grade! On Friday, November 21st from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm we are having a Kids’ Night In in the Ark! Parents, this is your chance for a night of leisurely Christmas shopping or dinner and a movie while your kids are having a totally outrageous night of fun! Your children will be served dinner and dessert, make amazing Christmas crafts, play some outrageous games, and then end the evening with popcorn and a movie on the big screen.
Kids are invited to come in their favorite pajamas and slippers. (Don’t forget your blanket and stuffed animal.) The cost is $10 per child for dinner and crafts. Space is limited, so sign up at the table in the Ark on Sunday.
Volunteers are needed: If you would like to help out at this event, please call Linda Brown at 757-8961 or send her an e-mail.

Ladies’ Christmas Festival of Good Cheer
Ladies: Join us in the sanctuary on Friday, December 5th for a jam-packed, fun-filled evening of Christmas cheer. We’ll enjoy a skit, speaker, crafts, karaoke, good food, Christmas carols, bingo, and fellowship. We’re expanding to the Ark this year, where the hardest part of the evening will be choosing which craft and demonstration stations to attend. From beauty tips to gift ideas, ornaments to appetizers, there’s sure to be something you’ll learn and enjoy! There’ll be photo opportunities too, so don’t forget your camera. The doors will open at 6:30 pm; the program will be from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. Tickets, $10 each, will be available at the church this Sunday.

If you came to Arktoberfest on Halloween evening, you might find your picture in the Children's Church photo album. If you missed Arktoberfest, be sure to check out all the funny, cute, and creative costumes! You'll find the Arktoberfest 2008 photo album, along with all the Children's Church albums, here.
