Why is Gilligan’s Island still so popular? One theory is that each character embodies one of the seven deadly sins. So which do you most relate to?

Deep down, we desire to be indebted to no one. It makes us feel weak and needy and oh-so vulnerable to the giver.

We need a wartime mindset toward sin. Aware. Prepared. Alert. Because our mindset determines our direction, and steers our heart accordingly.

Just like Peter, from time to time we all do dumb stuff. And we do unloving things to those we most love. But our faith doesn’t fail when we fail.

Know why we refer to servers as waiters? ‘Serving’ requires attentive ‘waiting’. And as good waiters, we must be eagerly anticipating our Father and Friend.

Are you a cheerful giver? It’s a no-win situation for believers who feel guilty when they don’t give, and are reluctant when they do give.

Whatever you do, don’t just give God your leftovers. Especially since He only asks for one thin slice.
